The Petropavlovsky lighthouse is situated on Cape Mayachny 12 km away from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The history of the lighthouse started with the developing of Kamchatka: it was first mentioned on the maps of 1740. At first it was just a wooden cabin with a bonfire serving as a signal for ships. Later a shelter for the crew was added. In 1850, the lighthouse was called Dalny (Remote), and the cape was named Cape Mayachny (Lighthouse). In 1897 the lighthouse was newly rebuilt using cast iron and renamed into Petropavlovsky. It still looks like that and operates.

From the cape you’ll see the panorama of Avacha bay, domestic volcanoes Avachinsky, Koryaksky and Kozelsky at their finest and rocks Three Brothers — a symbol of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
